Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482)
The Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482), replacing the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa from 7 December 2024, allows employers to sponsor skilled workers for positions they cannot fill locally. This temporary visa addresses Australia’s labour shortages and supports economic growth by enabling skilled professionals to contribute to the workforce.

Streams of the Skills in Demand Visa
- Core Skills Stream
- Purpose: Address labour shortages by employing workers with core skills from the Core Skills Occupation List.
- Stay: Up to 4 years (5 years for Hong Kong passport holders).
- Cost: From AUD3,115.

- Specialist Skills Stream
- Purpose: For occupations listed in the ANZSCO, excluding Major Groups 3, 7, or 8, with salaries meeting the Specialist Skills Income Threshold.
- Stay: Up to 4 years (5 years for Hong Kong passport holders).
- Cost: From AUD3,115.

- Labour Agreement Stream
- Purpose: For skilled workers nominated by employers with a Labour Agreement with the Australian Government.
- Stay: Up to 4 years (5 years for Hong Kong passport holders).

- Subsequent Entrant Stream
- Purpose: For family members of Subclass 482 or 457 visa holders to join the primary visa holder.
